Jharsuguda, Odisha: A fresh controversy has surfaced in Jharsuguda after local resident Hariram Patel alleged that he was cheated of valuable ancestral land, worth more than 15 (Fifteen) crores of rupees, through a tampered mutation appeal order allegedly passed by the court of the Sub-Collector, Jharsuguda, during the tenure of a former Tahsildar.
Mr. Patel said the land was recorded in his late mother’s name and questioned the basis for issuing the subsequent Record of Rights (RoR). He alleged that the mutation proceedings relied on an appeal order that had been altered or tampered with.
Mr. Patel further alleged that the then Tahasildar passed the mutation order on the basis of a forged and tampered order to facilitate the transfer of the land into the purchaser’s name. He identified the purchaser as the wife of a prominent local businessman
The circumstances surrounding the mutation, the authenticity of the disputed appeal order, the issuance of the RoR and the role of the persons connected with the proceedings are reportedly under inquiry.
Patel said he would not disclose the names of the officials or other individuals concerned at this stage, as the inquiry is ongoing.
