Jharsuguda: The transfer of Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, IPS, has caused widespread disappointment among the people of Jharsuguda. During his tenure, he earned appreciation for his leadership, effective crime detection, proactive policing and commitment to maintaining law and order.
In a police reshuffle announced by the Odisha Government on November 1, 2026, Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, IPS, who was serving as SP of Jharsuguda, has been transferred as Assistant Inspector General (AIG), State Police Headquarters, Cuttack.
Sonali Singh Parmar, IPS, who was serving as Additional SP, Khordha, has been posted as the new SP of Jharsuguda.
The untimely transfer has prompted disappointment among sections of the public, with many questioning whether the officer could have been given more time to serve the district. While transfers and postings are part of normal government administration, residents naturally expect stability and continuity in district policing, particularly in maintaining law and order and ensuring effective crime detection. His transfer has left many residents disappointed.
The incoming SP, Sonali Singh Parmar, will now have the responsibility of maintaining public confidence, ensuring law and order, strengthening crime detection and carrying forward effective policing initiatives in the district. People expect her to ensure efficient, responsive and result-oriented policing, with a continued focus on public safety and crime control. Expectations from the new police leadership will naturally remain high.
